Be PROACTIVE and ensure your workplace is not causing harm

Spirometry is a breathing test that measures lung function. It is an important screening tool, especially in workplaces were a worker may be exposed to inhaled hazards such as fumes, dust, vapors, and other respiratory irritants. 

Our lung function assessment starts with a comprehensive questionnaire followed by spirometry testing in accordance to ATS/ERS guidelines 2005. This requires the worker to breathe through a mouthpiece connected to a computer and blow out very hard and fast. It does require effort but it is vital in assessing baseline and ongoing lung function. We recommend this is carried out at pre-employment stage and then at least annually.
